India Pale Ale • 6.0 % ABV • Stavanger, Norway
Hot on the heels of Lervig’s sharp Trolltunga as well as their warming and spicy 3 Bean Stout, next on the list is something that airs more on the juicy and the tasty side.
Today, we bring you Lervig Aktiebryggeri’s Tasty Juice.
Tasty Juice was a massive hit when it hits the shelves back in 2016. Here it is now in 2017 and is promised to be better than ever.
A massive East Coast style IPA all the way from Norway.
doubled hopped to the max with citra hops to offer plenty of tropical fruit and citrus notes.
Mustn’t forget those dank yeasty notes.
Let’s crack Tasty Juice open and see what’s lurking within!
|Appearance||Produces a small white head which settles quite quickly but clings to the edge of the glass. Pale gold in colour and looks rich in texture.
Hazed to the max!
|Aroma||A hopped up kick of citrus, grapefruit and passion fruit.
Little in the way of yeasty esters or malts. Just a really rounded, juicy and fresh aroma.
|Flavour||Surprised us with more dry fruity notes as opposed to the sweet and juicy as the aroma would lead you to believe.
Subtle hits of grapefruit and mango with a pithy bitterness at the end.
There were some savoury notes that we couldn’t quite put our finger on.
A few people on Ratebeer are suggesting onion?
|Mouthfeel||Big creamy mouthfeel with a chewyness from the moderate to high carbonation level and really get the tongue buzzing.
The dryness gits the cheeks too.
|Overall||Tasty Juice really took us by surprise.
Based on the aroma, we were expecting a big, sweet and fruity flavour but were hit instead with a dry and well carbonated number with a rich, zesty and powerful bitterness.
