American Pale Ale • 5.3 % ABV • Fort Collins, Colorado USA
Odell Brewing Company started their journey back in 1989 when Doug, Wynne and Corkie Odell converted a grain elevator, dating back to 1915 on the outskirts of Fort Collins, into their brewery.
Their success has led to the development of a 45,000 square foot brewery in 2009 and the addition of a new brew house and taproom in 2013.
Their beers can be found in up to 11 states as well as the UK and Ireland.
The first of my Odell beers is an unfiltered American Pale Ale which has been hopped to the max. The carefully chosen combination of hops should offer a complex fruit character that offers the flavours pineapple, orange, mango and grapefruit.
Using such a fine array hops means that no fruit or juice additions are required here.
I’m pretty excited with this beer, sounds like Its going to offer plenty of punchy flavour and character.
Drumroll APA pours with a deep gold colour and has bags of energy creating a large white topper which isn’t afraid to stick around.
This beer is packed with really punchy, vibrant and tropical fruity notes with the pineapple and mango really taking precedence. As you breathe it in, it almost warms the back of your throat.
The tropical fruit flavours are really pronounced from the first taste. The juicy flavours really develop on your taste buds moving into biscuit malt and finally an easy yet pleasant bitterness.
A Medium bodied and really smooth beer that ticks all the boxes in terms of flavour, aroma and balance.
