American Pale Ale • 5.5 % ABV • Shepton Mallet, Somerset
Wild Beer Co from Shepton Mallet, Somerset have been brewing some pretty amazing and unusual beers since their inception back in 2012.
From full flavoured like pales like Bibble, Madness & Fresh to amazing chocolate and salted caramel milk stouts like Millionaire all the way to the more experimental Cool as a Cucumber Saison and even a sourdough culture beer called, well… Sourdough.
Wild Beer Co are all about producing beers that are different. Their primary aim is to excite your taste buds and wildly challenge your perceptions of beer.
Keeping things in the pale spectrum, next up is Fresh.
A frisky and fragrant pale ale which throws consistency out the window due to the unpredictability of current harvests. The hops are regularly changed every six months to get as they say “The best out of the Northern and Southern Hemisphere harvests”.
The result is a pale which surprises your tastebuds and gives you an opportunity to determine what has gone into your beer each time.
I was really looking forward to what Fresh had to offer and it didnt dissapoint.
The glass topped up with a clean and crisp looking straw coloured beer. A small white head formed which settled quickly but offered plenty of lacing on the way down. The beer itself formed plenty of lively rising bubbles.
The aroma was vibrant and fresh, offering plenty of clean hoppy notes of grapefruit, citrus and flora. The same can be said of the flavour which was light in maltyness but piled on the hop action, hitting you with grapefruit and lemon. To end, a pleasant and medium bitterness.
Fresh was light in body, being as crisp and refreshing as I expecting. A really easy drinker and a good all round pale ale!
